ITM Missionary to Ecuador makes
perpetual
profession, Bogotá
BOGOTA: 8 August
2012 -- Brother Augustinus Togo SDB, a missionary
from ITM in
Ecuador, made his final profession as a Salesian at
Bogotá, Colombia on
3 August. The event took place in the presence of Fr Cereda,
General
Councillor for Formation, who was making a brief visit to the
Curatorium for the Salesian theologate in that country.
Augustinus is now in his second year of theology, having
completed his
two years of practical training in Ecuador, where he has been
assigned
as a missionary after receiving his mandate four years ago.
Augustinus
comes from the island of Flores, a particularly 'Catholic'
presence in
Indonesia, and certainly a flourishing source of vocations,
including
for the Salesians who do not, as yet, have a House there.
There were two who made their final profession on this
occasion, the
other being Brother Hugo Acosta, also from Ecuador. Fr
Marcelo
Farfan, Provincial of Ecuador and also member of the
Curatorium, was
present for the occasion.
Augustinus was not left without an Indonesian touch to the
event - the
Indonesian Ambassadorial representative for Colombia attended
the Mass
of Profession, and there were Indonesian dances and food items
provided
after the event. Needless to say, Augustinus is by now a
proficient
Spanish speaker!
