In VIE a new Provincial; in GIA a province feast

HCM: 8th July 2009 -- The outgoing Provincial of Vietnam, Fr John Baptist Them, has communicated to his province and in fact to the region, the news of the appointment of the new provincial for VIE in the person of Fr Joseph Tran Hoa Hung.  Fr Tran Hoa Hung will be installed as Provincial in a ceremony on 11th July.
    Fr Tran Hoa Hung, born 1958, has been the vice provincial since 2003, and is no stranger to the needs of administration of a large province. He was also Rector for a number of years of the Xuan Hiep Formation Community.  His interest in and experience in formation will be much appreciated in a province with so many men in formation.

SUGINAMI: 8th July 2009 -- GIA is gearing up for its Provincial Chapter in March next year.  Rectors gathered at Suginami, the Community that runs the large Salesio Shudoin or Polytechnic, on 3rd and 4th July to look at early preparations for the Chapter.  But it was also an occasion for some input on St Maria Domenica Mazzarello from Sr Edna Mary, former Provincial of the FMAs in Australia-Pacific, and Sunday 5th expanded into a full-scale province celebration. Fr Joseph Kamezawa, celebrating his Golden Jubilee of Priestly ordination presided at the Sunday Mass.  Fr Mario Yamanouchi, half-way along that road (Silver Jubilee), was the homilist.  But the true 'patriarch' of the Province, Fr Clodoveo Tassinari was the true guest of honour with eighty years of Religious Profession behind him!  Others who were celebrating a range of jubilees included Fr John Petracco and Bro Stephen Romelli (70 years of Religious Profession), Fr Dominic Nagasawa and Bros Joseph Kai, Dominic Tono, Peter Mori, Ludwig Yamada (50), Fr Vaclav Nosal (25).  Fr Mickey (Peter) Muratsu kept everyone entertained with his magic tricks.
