Thanks to China Province - and they would appreciate a prayer

ROME:  4th August 2009 --  China Province deserves a special word of thanks.  Some time ago we put out a request for corrections/additions regarding all province websites in the Region.  This is in view of two things - one of course is to recognise that over the space of a few years, some web addresses (URLs) inevitably change. The second is to ensure that the two major listings we have for the Region, one in Bosconet and the other in sdb.org, are accurate.
    China Province met the request fully, indeed abundantly! For the 20 or so sites we already had listed, there were a number of corrections.  They added a further 21 sites representing the entire Salesian Family.  This kind of cooperation is laudable and it really makes at least one person's task in this regard so much easier!  I write as someone who is currently attempting to rewrite some 25,000 pages belonging to sdb.org in preparation for the 'makeover' which will be revealed on or about - before we hope - 18th December.
    Many of the re-written pages (and the re-writing entails a simplification of code, correction of errors, completion of many texts) on sdb.org will not be visible until that December date, so bear with us. We cannot publish them earlier because they are written in a different format to that accepted by the current site.  But when it comes to correction of URLs for province websites, these we can correct and publish immediately.  Hence you will already find the China Province websites in all their glory (and probably their incomprehensibility for those who do not read Chinese, but that's not the point!) correctly listed in Bosconet and sdb.org
    An appeal, then, to other provinces, via their SC Delegate, to send along a list of websites belonging the Salesian Family so these can be duly corrected, added, whatever.
    And as one who publishes the 'in memoriam' on a regular basis in SDL and sdb.org, one cannot help notice that China Province has lost three fine men in the past month, all called by the Lord to enjoy their eternal reward.  That's a tough call for those whom the Lord is inviting to carry one with extra burdens added!  No doubt china Province will appreciate our prayers.  jbf
