Leaders
and Animator Formation
(LAF) Part of the
preparations for the
Bicentenary
Celebration
CEBU: August 24, 2014
–
The
Salesian Youth Movement team of
the Philippine Southern Province
continues to develop the
congregation's annual theme in
preparation for the bicentennial
celebration of the birthday of
Don Bosco through its program
called LAF, aka, Leaders and
Animators Formation.
This August 2014, the team
headed to all the districts of
the SYM presences respectively
in Cebu (which includes
Dumaguete and Borongan, Eastern
Samar), Negros Islands (which
includes Iloilo), and the
Mindanao Island. This year they
had reached out to 151 leaders
and animators giving them inputs
and workshops centered on the
topic of "Integrating the
Filipino Popular Spirituality
(FPS) with the Salesian Youth
Spirituality (SYS)."
There are four elements to the
Filipino Popular Religiosity as
written by Fr. Alejo, SJ, and
they are the spirituality of the
body, the many, the celebration,
and the negotiation. The
spirituality of the body can
also be synthesized as the
spirituality of expressiveness.
Likewise for the spirituality of
the many as happiness,
celebration as togetherness, and
negotiation as creativeness.
And these four elements of the
Filipino Popular Spirituality
are
very much aligned with the
Salesian Youth Spirituality
namely:
1. Spirituality of Optimism and
Joy =
Spirituality
of the Many (Happiness)
2.
Spirituality of Friendship with
Jesus =
Spirituality
of the Body (Expressiveness)
3.
Spirituality of Communion with
the Church =
Spirituality
of the Celebration
(Togetherness)
4.
Spirituality of Responsible
Service =
Spirituality
of Negotiation (Creativeness)
Moreover, all
these things can be experienced
in the Spirituality of the ordinariness
of daily life or in our day to
day encounter with people and
with God.
In the afternoon of the same
day, the workshop centered on
making formation modules based
on the elements and of the FPS
and SYS which was collected and
will be edited by the SYM-FIS
team to be distributed to all
Salesian settings once it is
finished. In this way, we can
call it our birthday gift to St.
John Bosco who continue to
inspire all of us. Youth Serving
