RMG, 7 September 2017 -- Last September 1st started in the General House in Rome the new missionary course, preparing the 22 new missionaries for the 148th expedition (Turin, Basilica of Mary Help of Christians) on September 24th. Among the members of the 148th expedition are many who are heading in or out from our EAO region. A special place takes the first founding community of Malaysia - Kuching (FIN) with Fr. Mon Borja, Fr. Andre Belo and Br. Manuel Ruperez.
Among the EAO destinations of 2017 are Australia - Pacific, Mongolia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Japan, Malaysia. In the same time the EAO missionaries are send to other regions - Europe (Great Britain) and Africa (Democratic republic of Congo).
Majority of the new missionaries are practical trainees, during the 25 days long course they are being prepared with basics in inter-cultural dynamics, fundaments of missiology and Salesian missionary spirituality. Last eight days they walk around the Salesian Holy place in Piedmont to be ready to receive from the 10th successor of Don Bosco the missionary crucifix on September 24th.
We welcome the incoming missionaries to our Region - from South Asia (India), from Africa (Burundi), from America (El Salvador), we pray for the Salesians departing for other regions (Project Europe - Great Britain, Africa - new Viceprovincee of ACC: RDC Congo - Congo Brazzaville) and also remember the Salesians moving within our region to the new mission frontiers of Mongolia, Malaysia and Pakistan.
