4 newly professed in Indonesia ITM,
7 begin their novitiate
SUMBA: 4 August
2012 -- On
1 August 2012, four Novices in Sumba answered their “Yes!” to
the Lord
in their First Religious Profession, that loving encounter
between the
Lord who calls and the disciple who responds by offering
himself
totally to God and to his brothers and sisters (C. 23).
Indeed, it was a joyful morning for the people of Weepengali,
Sumba,
Indonesia. The families of the newly professed, members of the
Salesian
Family, members of the Clergy of the Diocese of Sumba, several
Sisters
from various Congregations, instructors and students from the
Don Bosco
Technical Training Center, and a large number of young people
from the
Oratory came and witnessed the four, Adrianus Alin Berek,
Albertus
Rangga, Kristoforus Tua Kado and Servasius Lado Rema as they
made their
first vows in the Chapel of Don Bosco during the Eucharistic
Celebration.
The Vice Provincial of the ITM (Indonesia-Timor)
Vice-Province, Fr
Apolinario Maria Ornai Neto, presided at the Mass and received
the vows
in the name of the Rector Major. In his homily, Fr Apolinario
challenged the new Salesians to be faithful and imitate Jesus
who was
convinced of who He was and was faithful to the end. “He
answered His
Mother, when Joseph and Mary found Him in the Temple, ‘Why did
you
search for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s
House?’
(Luke 2:48-49). Jesus was faithful to the end because His life
had a
goal, a task, a meaning, a mission that was truly clear.
The simple Eucharistic Celebration for the First Profession
was made
more solemn by the beautiful renditions of the grand choir
composed of
the incoming novices, some aspirants, several students from
the Don
Bosco Technical Training Center and young people from the
Oratory.
After the Eucharist, there was a fraternal agape as a sign of
gratitude by the Salesian Community of Sumba for all who came.
In the evening after Vespers in the Salesian Community, in the
name of
the Provincial, Fr. João Aparicio Guterres, Fr
Apolinario entrusted
seven new Novices to the Director of Novices, Fr. Yoseph Ola.
We ask
the readers to say a special prayer for these new batch of
Novices,
that they may be able to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to
their
one year of formation in the Salesian Novitiate of Sumba.
