Savio Cup to provide sports ground for Dalat
youngsters
DALAT June 19, 2014 -- In order
to build a summer playground for the youngsters in Dalat city
this summer time, the Savio Football Cup is being held by the
Don Rua House of Studies in Dalat. It got under way on
Monday June 16. It is of course timed to coincide with World
Cup 2014!
Two groups have join
the Savio Cup: U-14 : 12 teams from
the following parishes have joined this group: Don Bosco,
Chanh Toa, Van Thanh, Thanh Mau, Thien Lam, Tung Lam, Lang
Biang, Minh Giao, An Binh, Du sinh, Ha Dong and Don Bosco
Oratory. U-17: Comprises 5
teams: Lang Biang, Chanh Toa, Thanh Mau, Van Thanh and Don
Bosco Oratory.
Present at the opening ceremony were Fr Paul Le Duc Huan, the
Vicar General of Dalat diocese, Fr Thomas Vu Kim Long, the
rector of Dalat House of Studies, Fr Gregory Nguyen An Phu
Dong, Head of Youth Ministry for Dalat Deanery, the Salesians
and numerous football fans from the parishes.
In his opening address, the Vicar General of Dalat diocese
thanked all Salesians of Don Rua House of Studies for building
a summer playground for the youngsters in Dalat Deanery. He
wished all teams ‘all the best’, and that they may experience
joy in the Lord.
The aim of the Savio Cup is to promote fun, relationship and
team building. All matches are on even dates (Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday). The renovation of the football field
at Don Rua House of Studies has recently been completed, and
the field (and the teams!) is now ready for this Savio Cup.
The final matches of the two groups will take place on Sunday
June 29.
By the beginning of this coming August, the Youth Ministry
Commission in Dalat will coordinate with the Don Rua House of
Studies to hold another football cup for the older youth
(U-25s).
