Don Bosco Past Pupils - Myitkyina Unit President
Myitkyina, Myanmar, 6 August 2016 -- On the morning of the last day of extraordinary visitation of this most northern Salesian presence in MYM Vice-province there was a wonderful surprise. The National Federation president of Don Bosco Past Pupils, Mr. Columban Zau Gai, secretary Mr. Joseph Sai Tun Aung and the local Myitkyina chapter of the DB Past Pupils - President Mr. Michael David Ko Pyo and MHC National Past Pupils Ms. Cecilia and Secretary Ms. Kau Bu had a working breakfast with sharing about the future of their Association.
Since last April 4, when the ever first National Federation of Don Bosco Past Pupils was launched in Anisakan, there is a dynamic movement for the growth and consolidation of this youngest group of the Salesian Family. In our short meeting Fr. Klement introduced the World Confederation of Don Bosco Past Pupils leaflet (photos of the DBPP Presidency; goals and 4 flagship projects of this 6 years – Secretariat; Alumni Business platform, Alumni Academy and Volunteer services) as well the Prayer – Promise of Don Bosco Past Pupils (Statutes art. 5b) and the National President of Salesian Past Pupils introduced the recent history and challenges of newly born Federation.
Myanmar Past Pupils are very young and energetic, they know what they need: Salesian education of the membership, human resources and formation of the Association leadership. The whole meeting was concluded with the ‘dangerous’ Prayer – Promise of the Don Bosco Past Pupils, that was very appreciated and looked for!
The EAO regional councilor also invited the Past Pupils to join the incoming EAO Regional Congress of Salesian Family Past pupils in East Timor (October 4-8, 2016). And from the Past Pupils side there is a very serious intent to participate and get in touch with the other EAO Past Pupils Federation.
At present there are in Myanmar 5 FMA and 11 SDB presences, but the Units or Centers of Past Pupils are not yet established in each place, due to very recent start of some works. It’s very meaningful that from last April 2016 the Salesian Family Past Pupils work together (both educated by the SDB and FMA). There are about few hundreds organized Salesian Past Pupils around the whole country and they are also looking forward to meet the successor of Don Bosco next October in their homeland!
Viva Don Bosco!
