4401_Consultation for the new provincial of Australia - Pacific
Discernment process includes our prayers

Sydney, Australia, 2 June 2017 -- During past two weeks 70+ Salesians of AUL province gathered in four different countries during consultation encounters in eight cities: Adelaide (South Australia) on May 23, Melbourne (Victoria) on May 24 and 25, Glenorchy (Tasmania) on May 25, Auckland (New Zealand) on May 25, Alafua (Samoa) on May 29, Suva (Fiji Island) on May 31 and in Sydney-Mulgoa (New South Wales) on June 2.
Great majority of the confreres were present and the two hour long prayer - reflection - sharing sessions offered and valuable contribution to the Rector Major and his council for the discernment phase during the plenary session. Each confrere sends to the Rector Major the personal contribution with his vision about the present situation, urgent needs - priorities for next 6 years, requested qualities of the next superior as well name and qualities of three candidates.
The AUL province has 97 professed Salesians and 6 novices in four countries (Australia - Fiji - Samoa and New Zealand) living and working in 13 canonical communities. Last January 2017 was established the Pacific Delegation that comprises the three countries of the Pacific. The presence of Melbourne - Clifton Hill formation community with many young Salesians from ITM, MYM, THA and VIE provinces together with the Cagliero Project of missionary volunteers contributes to the effective communion among the 11 EAO provinces.
During the summer plenary session of the General Council there will be finalized discernment for another 6 new provincials from the following regions: Mediterranian, America Southern Corn and Africa-Madagascar.
