February 22, 2021
VIE Province (various locations), 22 February 2021 -- After being activated at provincial level on 8 October 2020, the Vietnam Don Bosco Green Alliance group has taken action to improve knowledge, skills in protecting our environment with the goal: Salesians together with young people and lay mission partners co-operate to protect our common home, reduce pollution from waste, particularly plastic waste.
Over three months, the group has organized activities at three Salesian settings: Dong Thuan community on 03 January 2021 with the participation of the Salesians together with nearly 300 students from Don Bosco My Thuan Technical School; Cau Bong pre-novitiate on 23 January 2021; and Phuoc Loc community with the participation of the Salesians and more than 300 students from Phuoc Loc Technical School. The group will organize a seminar-workshop for the Salesians at Blessed Philip Rinaldi Theologate on 27 February 2021.
A seminar-workshop includes talks on enviromental problems, Laudato Si’ and Don Bosco Green Alliance; time for reflection with a video clip about environment and some instructions; and group activity to create a work with some given materials and then explanation of the work’s meaning.
The participants mostly attended with good attention and joined group activities actively and creatively. The Salesians of these communities also gave positive feedback.
Hopefully the actions of the Vietnam Don Bosco Green Alliance group will spread knowledge, awareness and skills in protecting our environment, so that the Salesians, young people and everyone can co-operate to protect our common home which is created beautifully by God.
