The PDO operates as part of the Province Centre and works in conjunction with the Provincial Economer, Delegate for Youth Ministry and the Australian Salesian Mission Overseas Aid Fund and is accountable to the Provincial Council. Broadly speaking, the role of the PDO will be to assist the Provincial Council with considering and recommending projects to be undertaken within the Province.
Projects for consideration could come from:
The AUL Planning and Development office comes as the sixth in the EAO region, following FIS (Philippines - Cebu), FIN (Philippines - Manila), ITM (Timor Leste - Dili), VIE (Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City). Other EAO Provinces and Delegations are in the PDO launching stage: ITM - Delegation of Indonesia, THA - Delegation of Cambodia, MYM - Vice-province of Myanmar.
The world-wide Guidelines about the identity, model and development of the PDOs are submitted for the final approval in the General Council, after a long journey, started in the previous Seminar on the PDO (2011 November, Hyderabad) with the presence of 100+ participants from all five continents, including also AUL, FIN, FIS, ITM and VIE.
We wish that also the new PDO in Australia-Pacific province will enhance the Salesia mission with necessary professional contribution.
