Rectors
meet in Port Moresby under leadership of new Delegate
PORT MORESBY: 18th February 2008 -- Schools
and institutions in the delegation of Papua New Guinea and Solomon
Islands have recently commenced their academic year.
All 10 Rectors of the delegation gathered for a meeting held at
Emmaus House, Port Moresby, from 8-10 February 2008.
“I am pleased that all were present and that
we were able to deliberate and discuss issues of importance for the
delegation at the meeting. It was also a
time to share, receive encouragement, direction and support,” said Fr.
Raffy Galve, recently appointed Delegate. He
expressed his thanks to outgoing delegate Fr. Luciano Odorico and
to all the confreres for the trust and confidence that they have placed
in him. Fr. Odorico shared insights
on the Strenna of the Rector Major highlighting in a special way the
first part of the strenna – ‘Educate with the heart of Don Bosco’. Vocation Promotion and Administrative matters
were discussed at length while youth ministry with reference to the
forthcoming World Youth Day were also touched upon.
Moments to unwind and relax were part
of the programme. A basketball match
between the Rectors and the Aspirants resulted in the agile and
fast-footed youngsters beating their superiors. A
delicious Pizza night dished up by Fr. Val Barbero and a sumptuous
lunch at Don Bosco, Gabutu on Sunday concluded the meeting.
