austraLasia #2881 The Region's Salesian Cooperators gearing up for
Regional Assembly
BANGKOK: 7 July 2011 -- The Thai
Provincial Coordinator for the Salesian Cooperators, Mr
Francis Wichai, has sent out information regarding the
upcoming Regional Assembly of the ASC, to be held in Bangkok
in October 2011.
The last such Assembly was held in Macau
in 2008, at a time when the new Project of Apostolic Life
was being finalised. The October event, the 7th such
Regional Assembly, will run under the general theme of
"Called to be united; let us renew our identity" and will
have as its primary scope the drawing up of a common
strategic plan within the region for the mission as members
of the Salesian Family.
The Assembly will, as is standard
practice now for such events, have two parts, the first
(from 11-12 October) involving SDB and FMA Delegates along
with Provincial Coordinators for the ASC. The second part,
the assembly proper, will take place from 12-15
October. Accommodation and the events themselves will
be hosted by selected hotels (a different one for each of
the two events, as it happens), and those directly involved
will have received the required information regarding times,
costs and registration. The common language at the
Bangkok Assembly will be English.
November 2012 will see the ASC World
Congress in Rome, and already the regional Assemblies have
this in mind too. The Project of Apostolic Life, which has
been in place 'ad experimentum', will receive the final vote
of approval at the world congress. Meanwhile suggestions for
amendments to the Statutes and Regulations are arriving and
being processed by the World Council. _________________ AustraLasia
