JAKARTA: 27th November 2007 -- Many Salesians from the
communities of Sunter and Tigaraksa, including the Daughters of Mary
Help of Christians with the group of Salesian Cooperator candidates,
gathered at the post novitiate house in Sunter on November 25th, the
day the Salesian Family recalls the death of Venerable Mamma Margaret.
The event began with solemn vespers for all, a
homily by Fr Jose Carbonell sdb, and then a presentation of songs, and
a short dramatic skit on the role of Mamma Margaret in the early period
of the Oratory. Supper was prepared by the mothers of the Salesians,
and by the Cooperators. As in some other provinces, a number of
candidates for membership of the Salesian Cooperators come from the
parents of Salesians themselves.
It is the first time that the Indonesian sector had
its Salesian Family Day. The other side of ITM in East Timor has
had a tradition of celebrating the day on August 15th. The
Salesians in Indonesia thought that November 25th, which honours Don
Bosco's mother, would also be a fitting occasion. _________________ AustraLasia is an
