Honest citizens, good Muslims!
KEP CITY (Cambodia): 6th November 2007 -- 'We are all
empowered by education and training to have a world where our lives are
improved - and this is the reason for our commitment', said Fr Leo
Ochoa SDB as he opened a course in Dressmaking in Kep City on 5th
November.
Kep City is 148 kms from Phnom Penh. The Salesians
of Don Bosco initiated the Don Bosco Hatrans Dressmaking School for
out-of-school youth in the area back in 2001. Literacy, values
education and developing life skills are part of the curriculum. The
target group are mostly the Muslim population.
This year's batch has 17 students, all Muslim
girls. In fact 'Honest citizens, good Muslims' is the group's
vision. A name found to be a bridge for the Muslim trainees
happens to be Miriam (Mary). The group has accepted her as the
'model', and they have prayed to her for her intercession and
protection. Three FMA past pupils serve as trainers and educators. _________________ AustraLasia is an
