Salesian Schools Hold Joint School-manager Meeting
HONG KONG: 24 February 2012 --
The
annual joint school manager meeting of Salesians Schools for
China
Province was held on February 18, 2012, in Hong Kong.
The vice
provincial, Fr. Andrew Fung, led the prayer, praying for the
guidance
of the Holy Spirit, to accompany school managers in their
efforts to
develop the Salesian education spirit.
Fr. Simon Lam, Provincial of China Province, encouraged the
school
managers and reminded them that the role of a manager was to
share the
Salesians mission. Once a manager has accepted this job he has
to have
the courage, like Don Bosco, to carry out the mission.
Fr. Lam elaborated his address in 5 main points:
1) Do not ask why me? Instead, ask why not me?
2) Companionship, in good times or bad, in success or failure.
Lt us stand with our young people
3) In Salesian schools, we need to create a family atmosphere
for students
4)We need to have a religious sentiment and teach our students
to look to the God 'above'
5) Let us stress teamwork, the collective “we”. It is 'we' who
have the
same mission, 'we' who carry out the educational mission of
the
Salesians of Don Bosco in order to save more young people.
Following this encouragement by Fr. Provincial, group
discussions
explored difficulties encountered by managers in the execution
of their
duties, with a view to offering solutions.
