Petitions to ask the Pope for a blessing for newlyweds and their families – new list of bishop candidates attached
Turin, 4 April 1872
Your Eminence,
Countess Gabriella Corsi, who last year led and accompanied the delegation of Catholic spinsters to the Holy Father, will celebrate the marriage of her only daughter Maria to the son of the famous Count Balbo next Monday.
Both families, through me, beg Your Eminence to kindly ask the Holy Father to send his Holy Blessing upon the bride and groom and their respective families on that day.
They have already made an offering, and will make another on Monday /8/, as will be seen in the newspaper l ’Unità cattolica in the article on St Peter’s pence.
Two sheets are enclosed with this letter, which I humbly commend to your high wisdom for whatever consideration you deem appropriate.1
On this same occasion, I would like to assure you that we offer special prayers every day in the Church of Mary Help of Christians for the precious preservation of you and the Holy Father in good health and long life.
Please forgive the familiarity with which I write and allow me the honour of professing that I am
Your Eminence’s
most humble and obliged servant
Fr John Bosco
