To the Provincial, Fr Giacomo Costamagna
E VII, 3919
"You left, but you truly broke my heart. I gathered my courage, but I suffered and was unable to sleep all night."
My dear Fr Costamagna,
You left, but you truly broke my heart. I gathered my courage but I suffered and was unable to sleep all night. Today I am calmer. May God be blessed.
Here are some pictures for the confreres of our, or rather your, Province. For Fr Lasagna, it will be for another time. A letter for Mr Bergasse is enclosed.
If any difficulties arise, you can count on me without reservation. Please give my regards to Madame Jacques [French benefactor], assuring her that the first savage girl to be baptised in Patagonia upon our arrival will be named Agata [Agatha].
May God bless you, dear Fr Costamagna, and with you, bless and protect all your and my dear sons who accompany you.
May Mary protect you and keep you all on the path to heaven. Have a safe journey.
I am here with a great multitude praying for you. Amen.
your most affectionate friend
Fr John Bosco
P. S. Fr Lemoyne's dream needs to be corrected in some respects, and you will see that.
