To the Mayor of Lanzo, Giuseppe Droetti
E III, 1597
He announces that he is in favour of signing the petition promoting the construction of the railway line from Cirié to Lanzo.
Turin, 4 November 1871
Dear Mr Mayor,
I was informed that a petition had been launched to express public opinion on the necessity and public usefulness of the railway line planned from Cirié to Lanzo.
Although my name is of little importance, I respectfully request that you consider my signature alongside the others.
I am deeply convinced that everyone will unite to acknowledge and promote, even with great sacrifice, a long-awaited and vitally important undertaking.
In any case, my humble opinion is favourable; indeed, I consider this to be of great benefit to the inhabitants of Lanzo and the other inhabitants of the neighbouring valleys and villages.
Thank you for the favour you will hopefully grant me. I assure you of my heartfelt gratitude and remain,
Your Excellency’s
most obliged servant,
Fr John Bosco
