Parish Priests

To Parish Priests

E IV,1835

A letter of recommendation: he commends his young pupils to them as they go on holidays — asks them to provide a certificate of good conduct when they return to college

Turin, 22 August 1873

Very Reverend Father,

We respectfully recommend this student of ours to the kindness of his parish priest, humbly asking him to assist him during the holidays and, upon his return to us, to provide him with a certificate stating:

1. Whether, during the time he spent in his home town, he approached the Holy Sacraments of Confession and Communion.

2. Whether he attended parish services and served Holy Mass.

3. Whether he kept bad company or not and did not otherwise given cause for complaint regarding his moral conduct.

While we hope for good news about our pupil, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I have the honour of professing that I am

Your Very Reverend Father’s

most obliged servant
