To newly-ordained priest Fr Francesco Nicola Fenoglio
E VII, 3668
He wishes to speak to him personally about his good resolutions — in the meantime, he recommends practising certain virtues and accepting daily sufferings.
Turin, 13 July 1882
My dear Fr Fenoglio,
I commend your desire to do and suffer something for the greater glory of God; but before you begin your work, I would like us to speak privately for a few moments. We will do this during the spiritual exercises, which will be scheduled at your convenience.
In the meantime, try to practise the virtues of charity, patience and gentleness of St Francis de Sales.
Take heat, cold, thirst and sorrow as gifts from the Lord.
The rest, I will reveal to you when I make my plans for you known.
May God bless you and help you walk the path to heaven. Pray to the Lord for me, and I will always be
your most affectionate friend
Fr John Bosco
