He expresses gratitude for the offering received and assures immunity from cholera infection for those who collaborate in the building of the church of Mary Help of Christians. He commends the excellent choice of the Jesuit college in Mondragone in the castelli romani.
Turin, 22 October 1866
Distinguished Countess,
Thank you very much for your offering on behalf of these poor youngsters of mine, and especially for continuing the work on the church in honour of Mary Help of Christians.
The sacred building is nearing completion on the outside; we hope for divine providence for the rest.
As for cholera, fear nothing; go to Rome, stay in Frascati, you have nothing to fear. None of those who help build the church of Mary Help of Christians in Valdocco will fall victim to the deadly disease, provided they place their trust in her.
If God wills, I will make my trip to Rome between December and January.
It was an excellent decision to send your son to Mondragone. There, teachers, assistants and directors seek true goodness, that of the soul.
God bless you and your family. Pray for me, as I profess my gratitude.
Your Distinguished Countess’s
most obliged servant,
Fr John Bosco
