To Fr Angelo Rho
E VI, 3048
He intends to respond with silence to the recipient’s latest controversial letter; although he is sorry that this priest shows disdain for the priests at the Oratory, he nevertheless intends to maintain his friendship.
Turin, 24 July 1879
My ever dear friend,
When an honest man is not believed, he must remain strictly silent.
You have misunderstood me and have not responded to any of the points raised in my letter. The disdain with which you speak of the priests of this house prevents me from explaining myself with the appropriate words. Therefore, it is pointless to discuss this matter, as I had so eagerly desired.
In other matters, we will always remain good friends. I will always count on your kindness and that of all your brothers, especially Cav. Provveditore.
And I will always be happy to be of service to you or your people.
Love me in J. C. and believe that I am unwaveringly
your most affectionate friend
Fr John Bosco
