CHENNAI (INDIA)
August 7, 2013- Fr. Andrew Wong SDB, Regional
Councillor for East Asia-Oceania, officially inaugurated his
4-month-long Extraordinary Visitation of the Province of
Chennai during a Solemn Holy Eucharistic celebration on 30th
July 2013, at the SIGA hall in Chennai. Before the Eucharist,
the Provincial, Fr. Jayapalan Raphael welcomed the
Extraordinary Visitor on behalf of the Salesians and members
of the Salesian Family. All the leaders of the communities and
a large number of confreres from the houses of Chennai City,
along with the boys from Rinaldi Juniorate were present for
the celebration.
The following day, Fr. Andrew began the visitation of
individual communities on 31 July with the visitation of
Becchi Don Bosco, Kavarapettai. On his arrival at 8 A.M. he
was welcomed with arathi and ponnadai (shawl), in typical
Tamil style. Fr. Joseph Jeyaraj, the Rector, introduced Fr.
Wong to the community and welcomed him on behalf of everyone.
During these four months, Fr. Andrew is being assisted by Fr.
Maria Lawrence, SDB. The latter is usually based in the
Generalate-Rome as secretary of the regional for South Asia.
Before starting out for India, Fr Andrew had asked for our
prayers, so that in this month of August our thoughts be with
the youth, especially those who are in need. Please click here
