25 missionaries this year from
India
KOLKATA: 12th May 2005 -- The Provincial of Kolkata
Province, Fr John Berger, in his regular newsletter to confreres, indicates that
three confreres from that province will join a band of 25 missionaries from all
provinces in India this year. The large group was 'promised' to the Rector
Major on the occasion of his visit for the centenary celebrations of the
Salesian presence in India.
One of the three from Kolkata province, Fr Dominic
Kachira, will go to the Solomon Islands in February of 2006 after receiving his
missionary cross and attending the missioning ceremony in Rome in
September. He will stay on to attend the missionary course at the UPS
following that.
The same newsletter reports that 23 novices (10 from
Delhi, 13 from Kolkata) will make their profession on 24th May, and that the new
group of novices to start soon afterwards will contain 10 from the Kolkata
province.
