International Seminar on Family Ministry
BEPPU: 7 June 2012 -- Thirty
five
Sisters of Charity of Jesus from 15 countries have been
gathered
in Beppu. Japan since 4th June for their first meeting and
study
session on family apostolate, one of the deliberations of the
SCJ 14th
General Chapter in the area of mission, which asked them to
revitalise
family ministry, in the spirit of the Preventive System and
the
tradition they had inherited since their foundation.
The aim of this seminar, which is due to conclude on 8 June,
is to draw
up the Congregation's vision of this apostolate by reflecting
on three
aspects in particular:
- Family Apostolate within the Church
- Family Apostolate as a response to the urgent needs of
today's society
- Family Apotolate as part of the Congregation's charism
Reports on family from all 15 countries where the Sisters are
working
is helping them to draw up a common vision.
On 6 June, Fr Marcelo Baek Kwang Hyun SDB from the Korean
Province, who
coordinates the Study Centre for Salesian Youth Ministry and
Spirituality, addressed the Seminar, speaking of The family
today and
youth ministry.
