SALESIAN FAMILY SPIRITUALITY DAYS

20-23 JANUARY 2005

INVITATION TO TAKE PART

INVITATION TO ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION

Dear Fathers,

This year we take up a long tradition again with the Salesian Family Spirituality Days to be held in January. These first began in 1973 under the title Salesian Family Spirituality Weeks. The results of this experience have been most satisfying and the Acts of the sessions have been distributed widely by means of CD and videocassette.

This time however, the 'Days’ are organised as the responsibility of the Salesian Family World Advisory Council, although the Salesians continue to hold the coordinating responsibility for the initiative. These Spirituality Days are an encouragement for you to have Salesian Family advisory councils in operation in your own situation and to promote common initiatives.

These days will be held again from 20-23 January 2005 and will focus on the Rector Major’s Strenna for 2005: Rejuvenate the face of the Church, Mother of our faith.

I am writing to you to invite you to take part through your own presence firstly or through your Vice Provincial, and to ask your contribution in:

  • encouraging whoever possible to take part, so they can return to their provinces as bearers of a renewed enthusiasm and new ideas for making the Strenna something effective in the various different settings.

  • encouraging the participation of Salesian Sisters, Cooperators, Past Pupils, Volunteers of Don Bosco and other members of the Salesian Family.

  • indicating, as soon as possible, initiatives that you believe are good and meaningful for translating the Strenna into practice… and that could be shared or offered during the coming Spirituality Days.

The reference person from the Department who will be coordinating these Days is Fr Julio Humberto OLARTE (jolarte@sdb.org) and enrolments (to be done by email to giornatefs@sdb.org) close on 6th January. Attached you will find further information ready for distribution.

Hopeful that this activity will be an exercise in ‘rejuvenating the face of the Church’, I wish you fraternal greetings in Don Bosco, our Father.

Fr Adrian Bregolin

Vicar of the Rector Major
