OVERALL PROVINCIAL PLAN (2004-2010)

VICE PROVINCE OF ST. CALISTO CARAVARIO - ITM

1. PRESENTATION

One of the tasks proposed by the CG25 was the study and the elaboration of the OPP (GC25, 82-84). The OPP should present the fundamental options which will guide the development of the Vice-province along the coming years. Assuring continuity and coherence in our decision making.

It is important, therefore, that every Salesian starting with the provincial, assumes the objectives and strategies as shown in the OPP. Naturally the EPP of the province and local EPP’s can draw inspiration and ideas from it.

Actually the provincial and his council have been working along the lines mark by the OPP which is based on:

  1. The tasks entrusted by the Rector Major to the new provincial in 2004;

  2. The observations of the confreres when consulted for the election of the provincial;

  3. And finally, the conclusions of last year’s extraordinary canonical visitation.

2. THE CALL OF GOD

Dear confreres, God is calling us to live our vocation in East Timor and Indonesia, in a time of difficult challenges. Two different situations: In Indonesia, we are a minority frequently working among non Christians; while in East Timor, with a long Christian tradition, we are immersed in poverty and political struggles.

It is the time of “kairos” to put into practice the charism of Don Bosco, serving the youth, the local Churches and serving our countries, building the kingdom of God in East Timor and in Indonesia.

Especially in East Timor, we are a young province in a young country, and analyzing our strengths and our weaknesses, observing also the challenges and opportunities in front of us, we are setting these two priorities for the religious and apostolic life in the vice province:

  1. FORMATION: Strengthening the identity of the Salesian confreres and thus ensuring the continuity of the Salesian charism in these two countries.

  2. CONSOLIDATION: Consolidating the confreres and the basic structures of the vice province. Thus ensuring a harmonious development in the province, growing in fidelity to our charism.
