4879(I)_The way forward - "Once a Bosconian, always a Bosconian"

By Mr. Johnson Sirongo, EXDB

Aitape, New Britain, PNG, 11 October 2018 -- It was nearly the end of Term three (3), 2007 academic year during my high school days at St Ignatius Secondary School in Aitape doing my Grade ten (10).

A thought came into my mind that I should draft a letter of interest to continue my Secondary Studies at Don Bosco Technical Secondary School (DBTSS) in Vanimo because I certainly knew that my academic performance was poor and I had a discipline problem. Therefore, I doubted if I would be accepted or not. Amazingly, the following year I was successful along with my other two friends (Richard Mause & Fidelis Tamfo).

I received an Acceptance Letter from the Principal’s office, officially stating that I was selected to continue my Grade Eleven (11) studies at DBTSS. This was the turning point in my life. I vowed that I would change and become a gentleman. My mum is in Kimbe, West New Britain Province with my stepfather. It was only when I entered DBTSS, Vanimo to continue my studies, that I personally saw this as ‘THE WAY FORWARD’ for me.

Being a Bosconian, I learnt so much - socially, academically and spiritually. Then after a successful year twelve (12), I was selected for Divine Word University (DWU) in 2010 to take up Business Studies.

I completed my studies in DWU in 2013 specialized in the field of Management. Currently I am attached to the Diocese of Aitape. I am so grateful to all my classmates (2008 – 2009) for being together for each other, all the Teaching and Ancillary Staff, the Rector; Fr Albert Lenon (sdb) and Principal, Fr. Rendanto Ephram Coloma (sdb).

Finally, to our loving Father for the gift of life alnd His abundant ove and Mary our Mother for always being the shining star lighting our path.
