For the AustraLasia 5000

By Fr Filiberto González Plasencia, SDB

RMG, 5 February 2019 -- AustralAsia first, now boscolink, has reached 5,000 issues. The number, perseverance, development and work of many Salesians deserve recognition, gratitude and celebration.

I join those who have already expressed their congratulations for this historic event of communication by highlighting some elements that I consider important.

I note, first of all, that boscolink has strongly promoted the value of communion among provinces and the sense of belonging to the East Asia Oceania Region. It is the only Salesian region that has its own daily news, of constant, rapid, varied and interactive participation. That makes boscolink familiar. Very thanks and congratulations for the initiative and all promoter.

Second, I highlight the value and veracity of news sources. Each salesian is a reporter in situ who shares with all the others what happens in ordinary life at the local level. The need to offer and receive information based on the truth has been consolidated. That makes boscolink believable.

Third, I recognize the simplicity of the writing and the presentation, the technical quality of the team and the preparation of the Webmaster. This makes boscolink desirable and professional.

Finally, the achievement of linguistic unity in a multicultural region with a diversity of local languages. Uniting in a language for communication allows boscolink and its readers to enter processes of openness, inclusion and with vision of future.

I thank those who have promoted and participated in different ways and for so many years this communicative project that is still in constant update.

Here are some communicative convictions of Don Bosco living in this project: the need to inform regarding all the good that we do, the importance of uniting many people in a common project in favor of the evangelization and education of young people, giving the right of voice and visibility of face to those who have been denied this.

Congratulations! Long live AustralAsia - boscolink and great gratitude to those who carry it forward.
