Hua Hin, Thailand, 30 August 2019 -- The EAO capacity building workshop entitled, “Supercharge Your Fund Raising,” which kicked off on 26 August, continues to run until 30 August in Hua Hin, Thailand.

Each workshop day is jam-packed with input, interaction, reflection, and activities. Day 1 led everyone to understand fund raising in the Salesian context and the role of Mission Offices (MOs) and Planning and Development Offices (PDOs) in carrying out local fund raising. It proceeded with a discussion on the general principles of fund raising (3-30-3 rule), cultivating a donor base, and showing innovative examples of fund raising.

Day 2 began with an interactive activity on the 3 pillars of communication (elevator rap) and knowing different strategies for different audiences. It also introduced Salesforce, one of the cloud-based customer relationship management platforms available in the market, that can provide ease and efficiency to the MOs/PDOs as they progress in their fund raising efforts and their client database begin to grow.

Day 3 introduced the vital role of annual reports in building credibility and showing transparency and accountability to donors and partners. It also detailed how digital fund raising can be done through the use of social media, building one’s website, production video materials, and creation of info-graphics.

Day 4 is currently running and began with an introduction on building a fund raising-friendly Board of Trustees, fund raising through different events, and fund raising during emergencies. It also talked about fund raising ethics for Salesian offices.

Day 5 will be very practical for each Province through the drafting of a 30-day action plan to get their respective fund raising measures off the ground. It will also go region-wide with a discussion on a 3-year capacity-building game plan for the EAO Provinces/Vice Provinces/Delegations.
