FIS Cebu, The Philippines, 27 April 2021 -- The Online Salesianity Series, April 24, 2021 – The Salesian Family once again gathered virtually to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the person, life, and teachings of St. Francis of Sales. This April’s Salesianity session focused on the Salesian Style of Educating. Fr. Rooney John Undar, SDB, the incumbent principal of Don Bosco Technical Institute – Victorias, gave the input. He focused on the principles of Salesian education and traced their roots to the teachings of St. John Bosco and St. Francis of Sales.

Participants both from Zoom and Facebook Live took to heart ideas of borderless education, sacrament of presence, involvement, and cheerfulness – all of which are very relevant to the climate of education during the pandemic. Majority of the session’s participants were Salesian educators from the different Salesian schools. But even those who were not, expressed the relevance of Don Bosco’s educative approach even in the workplace and business.

In his parting good night talk, Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB, provincial superior of the FIS province, highlighted the crown of Salesian education – Don Bosco’s way of educating, his preventive system has produced saints. He challenged the Salesian Family to grow in this style of educating even more so in this challenging times.

This session was the fourth in a series of online Salesianity webinars given to prepare the Salesian Family for the 200th anniversary of death of St. Francis of Sales. It is usually given every 24th of the month, a very Marian and Salesian date, to all the members of the Salesian Family and the Salesian Youth Movement. May’s formation will focus on St. Francis de Sales’ Marian devotion.

We extend our invitation to other interested members of the Salesian family in the EAO region. The next webinar, done in English, will be hosted on May 24, 2021 (Tuesday), at 7:00 PM Philippine Time at the link.
