Paranaque City, the Philippines 24 October 2020 -- In the midst of the pandemic, the Salesians of Don Bosco from the community of the Seminaryo ng Don Bosco Paranaque were blessed with the ordination of six new deacons.

The newly ordained deacons are:

Rev. Cyril Vincent Noel, SDB – FIN,

Rev. Arnel Jason Mengote, SDB – FIS,

Rev. Leo Polutan, SDB – FIS,

Rev. Reynante Sabelita, SDB – FIS,

Rev. Antonio Maria Jose Gutteress, SDB – TLS, and

Rev. Simon Louis, SDB – MYM.

The ordination was held in the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians – Better Living, Paranaque.

The new deacons have chosen for their theme, “By name I have called you: you are mine.” from the book of the Prophet Isaiah (43:1).

In his gratitude speech on behalf of the newly ordained, Rev. Simon Louis of the Vice-province of Myanmar gave his gratitude to all those who were part of their formation journey. He acknowledged those who were present, and especially the ordaining prelate Bishop Broderick Pabillo, who was also their scripture professor in the Don Bosco School of Theology. Together with him were Fr. Gerry Martin, SDB – FIN Provincial, and Fr. Renato Molina, SDB – Rector of the Seminaryo ng Don Bosco and other confreres who were able to witness this celebration.

Due to the protocols set by the government and the province, many of the confreres were not present physically during the ordination. Nonetheless, the ordination was streamed via various social media platforms.

After the ordination, the newly ordained and their families, and Salesian confreres proceeded to the Seminaryo ng Don Bosco grounds for some refreshments.
