Fatumaca Celebrates the Help of Christians
FATUMACA: 27 May 2014 -- On the solemnity of Mary, Help of Christians, in Fatumaca there were many believers coming from different places in Timor Leste to participate in the annual pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Shrine.

The director of the Shrine, Fr Virgilio da Silva, SDB, animated and organized the celebration together with his community members and the members of the Salesian Family.

Before the feast day, they set up other activities for the students and believers such as traditional dances and a music show. They also organised the novena and the pilgrimage of the statue of Our Lady to various areas within the parish.

On the feast day, there were thousands of believers who came from different places and communities to give homage to Our Lady. They took part devoutly in the procession and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at which Fr. João Paulino Aparicio Guterres, provincial, was the main celebrant. In his homily, Father provincial reaffirmed the importance of our devotion to Mary, Mother of the Church and the Salesian Family. She is precisely the intercessor of God’s little people. She is present now among us and she knows our challenges. She is praying for us.
