CALCUTTA (22 January) -- Nominations by the

Salesian Provincial Delegate for Social Communications

Calcutta for the Multimedia International award 1997

received one award and two special mentions.

"Flame in the Slum" an audio cassette of 10 songs on

Mother Teresa by Fr. Jacob Iruppakkattu of Nitika

bagged the award for the best entry in the audio

category.

"The topic of the cassette was timely; the music was of

a very high standard and overall the cassette was well

produced," remarked the Rome based MI Award Committee

wishing the cassette wide circulation. The prestigious

MI Award consists of a certificate.

While another Nitika production: "The Hem of His Garment"

by Fr. Peter Lourdes of Nitika received special mention

for its excellent reflections and prayers, "The

Salesian News Calcutta" edited by Fr. Dominic

Kolpurath was appreciated for its content and layout.

"We had more entries than ever this year," said

Sr. Teresa McGlinchey IBVM, one of the MI Award

committee members.

"The entries submitted this year were of a very high

standard, she added.

contribution in the field of evangelization and media.

The first ever Web site entry to MI Award 1997 was

"Bosconet", an internet rapid news exchange service

for the Asia-Australia region submitted by Australian

Salesian Fr. Julian Fox.
