K'Long, Vietnam, 29 April, 2019 -- The 2019 Provincial Chapter of Vietnam – Mongolia province was solemnly opened on Wednesday, 24 April in the Don Bosco Retreat House in K’Long, Bao Loc province. This will be the longest PC in the EAO region this time, and will last 10 days until Friday 3 May, 2019. The FMA Provincial, the Provincial Coordinator of the Salesian Cooperators and the President of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Association were also at the opening session. The solemn blessing and inauguration of the Good Shepherd Statue in front of the Retreat House took place at the end of the first session.


There are numerous delegates in this Chapter whose president is the Vietnam – Mongolia SDB Provincial, Fr Joseph Nguyen Van Quang, with his Delegate for Mongolia, Fr Paul Leung Kon Chiu and the other 62 members (including 29 Rectors, 17 local community delegates, 13 provincial community delegates and 5 invited observers Fr. Barnaba Le Phong is the PC 2019 Moderator.


During the first days after the recollection and report on the State of the Province, the Salesians listened to 13 young people from various Salesian settings who were invited to share their contribution to the basic question: “What kind of Salesians for the Young people of today?”


The representatives of the young people read their sharing which reflected the opinions of the whole group of young people related to the 4 qualities of the Salesians asked for by the 28th General Chapter: Young people have commented on (1) Human Quality, (2) Quality of Christian Life, (3) Quality of Salesian Life, (4) and Quality of Pastoral Educative Mission. The group of the young people also offered some concrete suggestion and expectation from the Salesians in the context of Vietnam today.
