Salesian Mission Day in East Timor 2018

August 22, 2018

By Fr. Apolinario Neto

Dili, Timor Leste, 22 August 2018 -- The Salesian Mission Day is already a well established tradition on August 20, being a public holiday in East Timor. Chosen first some years ago by our Post-Novitiate, the interest and participation of the various groups of the Salesian Family has been growing consitantly up to this year’s edition. About 140 participants gathered for the missionary event – a missionary symposium-, beginning with the Holy Mass and followed by a well prepared and documented presentation, in two parts:

  1. The 2018 missionary theme (“Whispering the Gospel”…), based on the materials included in the magazine of the Missions Sector sent from Rome for the purpose.

  2. The Servant of God DON CARLO BRAGA, pioneer missionary of the salesian work in both China and the Philippines, presented by Fr. Emil Santos, SDB, who came from the Philippines at the invitation of our Provincial. He explained with competence and enthusiasm details of his missionary life and of his process of Beatification: another unknown treasure of salesian sanctity (like Don Cimatti last February), discovered and admired by most of the participants, now ready for imitation and for intercessory prayer…

  3. Our Post-Novices did a fine job in the preparation and the realization of the event, enhanced by the very inspiring presentation of missionary holiness offered by Fr. Emil Santos (FIN province). A big thanks and best wishes for the health to Fr. Emil as well congratulations to the TLS missionary animation delegate Fr. Manuel Fraile and his team!

Let's whisper (bisu bisu!) the Gospel in our daily life!
