Tondo, the Philippines, 1 October 2016 -- Senior trainees of Don Bosco Technical-Vocational Education and Training Center in Tondo, Manila undergo “Mangarap Ka” a seminar-workshop that will help them transition from being students to young skilled workers and professionals.
October marks the time for the senior trainees to transition for next level of their formation known as the Supervised In-Plant Training (SIPT). In this stage, they will be deployed to various factories and companies according to their course and competencies. As a preparation, PARE Foundation and La Vie Institute in partnership with Don Bosco TVET Center Tondo held a seminar-workshop titled “Mangarap Ka (Dream!).” The formation sessions highlighted three P’s that will equip the trainees for their SIPTand eventually for life: Pangarap (dream / ambition), Paraan (method / know-how), and Pagpaplano (planning).
Fr. Dennis Paez, SDB presided over the Holy Mass which preceded the seminar-workshop. There were three sessions. The first session tackled the question “Why?”. It taught the trainees that then path towards professionalism begins with a right mindset. It helped them see the power of dreaming through visioning and purpose creation. A life testimony enfleshed the lessons in this session. The second session dealt with the “How?”. Participants were guided through the process of making smart goals and gave them tips on how to keep themselves on track towards the attainment of their goals. The last session was an opportunity for the organizers and participants to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude. The seminar-workshop was concluded with the musical performance of Altitude.7 Band.
As the participants traced their steps back home, words of gratitude lingered on for the generous organizers of the formation program. Their hearts are now equipped with the essentials for the wage-earning jungle before them towards reaching their dreams.
