ITM’s Indonesian New Confreres Welcomed,
and More to Come!

SUMBA (INDONESIA) 24 July 2013 -- Today, 7 Indonesian young Salesians made their first profession after a year of formation in the Salesian Novitiate of Sumba, Indonesia. The Vice-Provincial of the ITM (Indonesia-Timor) Vice-Province, Fr. Apolinario Maria Ornai Neto, received them into the Salesian Congregation in the name of the Rector Major. The names of the newly professed (all clerics) are:
Antonius Widianto,
Archileus Ersentus Obes,
Ferdinandus Ola Amang,
Fransisko Kherubim Nuwa,
Marinus Tanggu Holo,
Paulus Marianus Sabong Tanggu
Yulius Kristanto Agus Prasetyo.

The simple but well-prepared ceremony took place at the Chapel of the Novitiate during the Eucharist presided over by the Vice-Provincial himself and concelebrated by several priests. A large number of parents, relatives, benefactors, religious men and women, students of the Don Bosco Training Center and the young people of the Oratory all came to witness the event.

The homily was given by the secretary of the Salesian Delegation of Indonesia, Fr. Ramoncito Padilla. In his special message to the new Salesians before their profession, he repeated the two powerful messages of Jesus in the Gospel Reading for the Mass of Temporary Profession (Luke 5:1-11): “Duc in altum” and “Nolite timere!” Put out into the deep water and do not be afraid! In front of the new Salesians there is a vast sea of opportunities and challenges. They were urged to be faithful even if they have to suffer and feel the pain of constancy. They can never be afraid because the Lord is always with them ever faithful and full of love. He who started it all with His call will help them to bring it to completion too. The newly professed were encouraged to pray, "Jesus, you are the Way, the Truth and the Life … You are my only Lord, my only Love, and my only Treasure. Three things I pray: ‘to see Thee more clearly, love Thee more dearly, follow Thee more nearly, day by day."

And before the final blessing of the Mass, the Vice-Provincial welcomed the new Novices, and entrusted them to the care of the Director of Novices and Rector of Don Bosco Sumba, Fr. Yosef Ola Suban. In so doing, 7 new Novices began officially their year of formation under the guidance of the Director of Novices.

After the First Profession Ceremony, those who had gathered held a fraternal agape during which the newly professed expressed to everyone the joy and gratitude they felt in their hearts for this day never to be forgotten.
