Cambodia: two centres - one mission

PHNOM PENH: 10th December 2005 -- The Don Bosco Technical School in Phnom Penh celebrated the birthday of the Congregation on 8th December with two blessings of oratories/youth centres 164 kilometres apart.  These two centres are managed by the Salesian Community of Phnom Penh - two centres, one mission, offering children and older youth a place a facilities for meetings, seminars, camps, sports and group activities with a formation slant.
    The blessing of DBYC-Phnom Penh was presided over by the bishop of the Phnom Penh diocese, Emil Destombes MEP.  Students from Don BOsco Technical School and children from the nearby FMA elementary school, along with DBYC members, attended the ceremony animated by seven Catholic students.  The ceremony took place at 9.a.m.
    At 6.p.m. Fr Depharat Pitisant, provincial of the Thai province (which incorporates the Cambodia Salesian activity), presided over the liturgical blessing of the Don Bosco Youth Centre at Kep, Kampot province, in the presence of 301 Buddhist children opting to fight AIDS the Savio way.  This day, 8th December 2005, gave birth to the voluntary group Savio Friends of the Don Bosco Children Fund beneficiaries.  In tomorrow's dispatch, more on the celebration of AIDS Awareness Day in Cambodia.
