Caritas Sisters in Japan celebrate Feast of Immaculate with Professions

TOKYO: 9th December 2005 -- Yesterday, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (and the 40th anniversary of the end of the Second Vatican Council), was a great celebration for the Caritas Sisters of Miyazaki CSM.  Five Sisters made their profession - three first professions and two perpetuals.
The Archbishop of Tokyo, Peter Okada Takeo, was the main celebrant, flanked by the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, Mons Celestino Cavagna, and the Salesian Provincial Fr Orlando Puppo.  More than twenty other priests concelebrated: Salesians, Paulines and Diocesans, amongst them the five parish priests of the respective parishes of origin of the Sisters making their profession.
The solemn ceremony was accompanied by the Caritas Sisters' choir, by now well known throughout the archdiocese for their performances on the main diocesan feast days.  The choir has also produced a number of excellent CDs much in demand by local Christians.
The Provincial superior of the CSM, Sr Aloisia Hashiguchi, in her concluding words of thanks, reminded those present that the newly professed Sisters are 'prophetic signs' of the mercy, love and understanding of the Sacred Heart shown by the Sisters in all places to where the Lord will send them.
The Superior General of the Caritas Sisters, Sister Apollinaris Shimura, is in Bolivia for the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the beginning of their mission in that country, and was present by way of a message to the newly professed in Tokyo.  She reminded the Sisters to remain always close to Jesus.
The Caritas Sisters of Miyazaki were founded in 1937 by Fr Antonio Cavoli, under the inspiration of Venerable Vincent Cimatti, pioneer of the Salesian work in Japan.  The Sisters are present in South Korea, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Germany and Italy.
