WYD:  any EAO link-ups possible?

COLOGNE: 1st July 2005 --  With World Youth Day a little more than a month away, austraLasia simply wishes to prompt a thought or two.  One hears, from around the region, of this or that group with advanced plans for attending the Cologne event.  Would it also be possible that these groups somehow know of each other's existence, then as the circumstances permit, they may also plan to meet up, rather than leave it to chance.
austraLasia may be in the unique position of being able to link these groups beforehand by providing the information, so if you are a reader, and are also part of a group heading for Cologne, drop a line telling us who you are, and we can get back to you eventually with information about others who have indicated similarly.
In the meantime, you may or may not be aware that there are some meeting-place possibilities already set up.  The German province Bonn-based NGO Jugend der Dritte Welt (Third World Youth) and Don Bosco Mission, also based in Bonn, are setting up a camp on the west Bank of the Rhine.  The site is just 35 kms from Cologne.  Youth groups with connection to the Salesian Family are welcome to enquire about that by contacting info@jugend-dritte-welt.de  As far as 'Salesian' accommodation is concerned generally speaking, the German Province has offered maximum accommodation possibilities through the WYD registration process.  Groups may request preference for a Salesian place but cannot be guaranteed such.  There is little point trying to individually contact Salesian communities, as the response will be the one just indicated in this paragraph.
On Wednesday 17th August, in the Cologne district of Mülheim, the Don Bosco Club there is holding a 'Don Bosco worldwide' event.  Salesian groups are welcome to participate.
These are but two opportunities we know of.  As more become known, austraLasia will let you know.  Hope to hear from you.
