Don Bosco Kalay, Sagaing Division - Myanmar, 14 November 2020 -- As an implementation of the 5th priority of our Rector Major for this 6 year period, i.e. “TOGETHER WITH LAY PEOPLE IN THE MISSION AND IN FORMATION”, a long-term Training of Lay Members for Don Bosco Media Team was organized by our provincial, Fr. Saw Charles Thi Han Lwin, SDB and the MYM Social Communication Commission at Don Bosco-Kalay, on 1 August 2020. Only five young men were carefully chosen from our different communities. The purpose of this course is to train some young people to promote Salesian activities and evangelize other young people through social media. It is a well-planned course and will last for 12 months.

During this time, they are learning the Salesian Social Communication System, Salesianity, News Reporting, Media Ethics, Mannerism, Music, English Language, Video Editing, Photography, Sound Recording & Music Production, and the like. They are very active and enthusiastic to learn these means and instruments of Social Media that are properly new to them. One of the trainees, namely, Benedict Phyo, said that he really thanked God for giving him this precious opportunity to be a media-man to work together with Salesian Congregation. He was so proud of himself that he could become part of the Salesian Family. Thus, he willingly intended to volunteer himself in the field of Salesian social communication for some years. The other trainees also had a desire to collaborate with us by offering themselves as computer-teachers at our different schools and settings in the future.

As we have been journeying together for the past 3 months by now, we are really happy about their passion, enthusiasm and effort for Social communication. The progress of their skills are clearly expressed through their works and arts done so far. We do believe that these chosen young people are a great help for the vice-province of Myanmar, particularly in the field of social media and our online ministries.
