Youth Ministry EAO:  ready for HK 2006?  Fr Domenech would like to be.

ROME: 23rd November 2005 --  A combination of God's grace and human willpower brought Fr Antonio Domenech to state, just a few days ago, that he would certainly like to think of himself as being ready for the Youth Ministry gathering of EAO Provincials and Delegates in Hong Kong in February 2006.  Human beings might wonder, but a letter to confreres from Fr Adrian Bregolin last night, and the Goodnight of the Rector Major to confreres at the Pisana also last night both made it clear:  their visit to Fr Domenech's doctor was far more comforting than they had thought humanly likely: at this stage, halfway through the projected chemotherapy programme (which in fact goes through to February), the cancer has completely disappeared from the lungs, and of the two affected parts in the liver, one has gone and the other considerably reduced.  The doctor's words were that the progress thus far 'seems almost a miracle'.  Medical science at this point is recognising what has been achieved and being understandably cautious about the future.  The Rector Major and his Vicar are aware of the torrent of prayer from all around the Salesian world and urge that it continues.
Hong Kong 6-8th February 2006: some months ago Fr Domenech sent out a questionnaire asking a range of questions about the 'new pastoral model' and what has been achieved since the Lysterfield, Melbourne gathering 2003.  Given that the HK meeting is now only two and a bit months away, there needs to be a concentrated effort to get the responses to these questionnaires back in good time!  Bosconet features a YM page (www.bosconet.aust.com/YM/ym2006.htm) with all the relevant materials and the three responses received so far.  That leaves six responses to come.  The other 2006 animation area, Salesian Brothers, has already received all of its responses and is well into the preparation stage.  YM delegates and teams are now encouraged to do similarly for the February meeting.
