Cambodia: Don Bosco opens youth camp

KEP CITY: 3rd November 2005 -- Don Bosco Cambodia inaugurated Don Bosco Centre Kep, 164 kms south of Phnom Penh on Tuesday 1st November 2005.  It is a new sectoral ministry managed by the Don Bosco Technical School Phnom Penh Community, to offer students and young people a venue and facilities for meetings, seminars, group experiences and youth camp activity with a formation slant.  It bridges the mountains and sea and is a place 'where the perfect combination of relaxation and exciting formation facilities roll into one' (They must have a publicity manager with a line like that!!).
The main guest of honour at the opening was the director of the Department of Education, Youth and Sports, Mr Nguon Bian.  The SCHIOCH group of nine people representing Dutch benefactors came to add solemnity to the ceremony, amidst 550 students from the nearby Government High School and members of the Don Bosco Childrens Fund Mercy Ministries.
The Centre offers accommodation by dormitory arrangement: boys dormitory and girls dormitory on the first floor.  Each dormitory can accommodate 80-100 beds with a separate room for assistants (6-8 beds).  The 200 capacity ground floor serves as an open activity hall and refectory with kitchen facilities.  A separate house for leaders and facilitators provides four twin bedrooms with restroom, a meeting room, prayer room, dining room and a dormitory with 8-12 beds.
In Don Bosco Cambodia, the Salesians are always on the move 'with the young, all the time, any time'.
