5608(I)_Solomon Islands: Feast of Dominic Savio and Renewal of profession of Cl. Anthony Wale SDB

By Fr. Robinson Parrapilly

DB Rural Training Centre, Solomon Islands, 9 May 2021 -- DBRTC celebrated the feast of Dominic Savio on 6 May. The celebrations began with Solemn Eucharistic celebrations presided over by Fr Robinson Parappilly and concelebrated by Frs Dai and Bai. The well-prepared Liturgy was animated by the students of RTC. During the Mass, Cleric Anthony Wale renewed his Profession for one year in the presence of all Salesians, Teachers and students. During the homily Fr Robinson explained to the students the importance of striving to be Saints like Dominic Savio. He said St Dominic Savio is the crown of the Educative System of Don Bosco. Narrating a few incidents from the life of Dominic Savio, Fr Rector, exhorted the students to imitate the virtues of Dominic Savio especially the Love for Holy Eucharist, Love for Jesus and Mary, virtue of Purity of heart and mind, Obedience and Perseverance in achieving our goals, need to spread the simplicity of Joy and cheerfulness, doing our ordinary duties extra ordinarily well, visit to the blessed sacraments and above all salvation of souls. Dominic Savio became a saint because he wanted to be a saint and a Holy person. That is what all of us are striving to be.

Congratulating Cl. Anthony Wale, Fr Robinson thanked him for his generosity in offering himself to the Lord, and committing his life for the young people of Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. He said religious life involves lot of personal sacrifice, Obedience, hard work, and generosity from the part of Cl. Anthony. He challenged the young people to respond to God's call in this perilous times. We need courageous young people who can respond to God's call and become Salesians to work for young people of this country. The morality is devastating and more young people are addicted to drugs and alcohol. They need role models who can guide them and show the pathway to heaven. So he exhorted young people to come forward and become witnesses of the Gospel following the example of Dominic Savio.

After the Mass, the students enjoyed games, verity entertainment and sumptuous meal.
