Raising awareness and motivating mission

Cebu, The Philippines, 31 October 2019 -- The Extraordinary missionary month 2019 (October 1-31) which Pope Francis sought is officially over, but in the EAO provinces with their different school year dates, special traditions are continuing with many initiatives that might also help to foster the provincial missionary culture in our ordinary years! We are grateful to all 12 provincial missionary animation delegates and their teams for a lot of passion, energy and enterprising spirit to foster our missionary fire in daily life and beyond:

Australia - Pacific Province (AUL) continues its regular 'missionary talks' and will soon host the General Councillor for the Missions as another 'monthly guest speaker' 24 November.

Philippines South - Pakistan Province (FIS) shares its simple but very well prepared daily entry through social media.

Philippines North - Malaysia Province (FIN) animates its confreres from October 11 - November 11 in a special way.

Papua New Guinea - Solomon Islands Viceprovince (PGS) is sharing short video clips daily on its WhatsApp group following the daily themes of this month.

China (CIN) and Korea (KOR) Provinces translated the entire SDB animation booklet for this month, then launched it and are accompanying it.

Timor Leste (TLS) Viceprovince has translated the essential parts of the animation booklet and called on the whole Salesian Family to take an active part in reaching out to the young!

Vietnam - Mongolia Province (VIE) as well as their substantial community fundraising for the Uganda - Palabek refugee camp chapel, is again preparing their 2019 Mission day with probably another 6 new missionary applications ad gentes for the Rector Major...

And we could go on - the full account will be shared during the next EAO missionary animation delegate meeting in Dili - Timor Leste

It's amazing to see so much pro-active response to the call of Pope Francis in most of our EAO provinces! What is the common point - other than missionary Saints, we can see images and life of our missionaries from EAO provinces in the spotlight - young and old, those who received the missionary cross just this year and those who have lived for the past 50 years their with a true passion to share the Gospel with young people.

Now you may ask, what are the lasting fruits of this extraordinary effort of world-wide missionary animation in each of our communities, provinces or delegations? A fire can only be lit by another fire. We need constant kindling to witness and shareour faith with other people joyfully and consistently . Maybe getting closer to missionary approaches, and missionaries in our daily life could be one of the lasting fruits!
