Calauan, Laguna, the Philippines, 25 January 2019 -- In time for the upcoming feast of St. John Bosco, the Youth Center of Don Bosco Calauan kicks off a monthly formative event for young people.

Dubbed as “Juan Night Only,” it has been designed to respond to the needs of the young people in Calauan by providing them a space where they could express their youthfulness and find belongingness in the company of other young people. The participants were those who attend the week-end Youth Center, and also students from nearby schools.

The program took off by adoring our Lord through the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at which our Youth Director Fr. Donnie Duchin Duya, SDB presided.

The invited Salesian formator, Br. Carmelo Martinez, SDB of the Don Bosco Press, zeroed on self-esteem in his talk. He joyfully shared what is self-esteem and how important respect is to oneself. His talk was interspersed with stories and games that the participants were not just able to relate with his inputs, they also enjoyed every minute of it. He ended his talk with this message, “It is important to know how you look at yourself because it will be the basis of how you will respect yourself, and the people around you.”

After the talk, the participants were asked to form small groups in order to share their take-aways from Br. Carmelo’s talk.

Before we ended the program our Rector, Fr. Darwin Tolentino, SDB gave us the traditional good night talk. He emphasized how happy the Salesian Community of Don Bosco Calauan is for this event for the youth and gave his thanks for the support of the various schools that sent in their students as participants.
