Mumbai, May 17: Don Bosco's Madonna, the monthly magazine that began as a humble leaflet in 1937 is known to be the largest circulating Catholic Periodical in India and more, it is now online. His Eminence Cardinal Ivan Dias of the Archdiocese of Bombay launched the Don Bosco's Madonna website by a click on the mouse in the presence of the Salesian Provincial Fr. Ivo Coelho, Vice Provincial Fr. Adolph Furtado and the magazine and website editor, Fr. Ian Doulton at the shrine office in Matunga, Mumbai recently. The address of the site: http://www.donboscomadonna.faithweb.com

Don Bosco's Madonna, which is now read in almost every catholic home in Bombay and widespread all over India  began as the brain child of the late Rev. Fr. Aurelius Maschio. Fr. Maschio, the Patriach of the vast Salesian Province of Mumbai and who is instrumental building up majority of it's institutions was once asked: "Should it happen that one day all your work is destroyed, where would you begin building again?" Without the blink of an eye, he said: "I'll begin with Don Bosco's Madonna."

The website facilitates viewing the magazine online. The slogan: "Take The Madonna Home With You" runs as a ticker tape through the website. Since the magazine is an organ of the Shrine of Don Bosco's Madonna, there are links to the Shrine and the biography of Fr. Maschio which are still being developed. The Shrine site provides the facility of praying the rosary online as one views the Stain Glass windows in the shrine. The website is also working at a virtual tour of the shrine together with shrine news and highlights of forthcoming events.

The site has added to the popularity of the magazine which is heading for its 100,000 mark from the 98,200 where it presently stands.
