By

Caritas Sisters of Jesus, Rome, 20 January 2022 -- With the 18th General Chapter in September 2021, the Caritas Sisters of Jesus started their '6 year journey towards the Common Home'. We bring you the main points of their Mother General's Letter sent on 1 January 2022 to the 930 Sisters spread across 16 countries around the world:

Mother General, Sr Emiliana Park, first introduces the '6 year vision of the Congregation':

"For the ‘Common Home’, we transcend the barriers between cultures and become one heart in the charism and spirit of the Congregation. We come out of ourselves and listen to the cry of the wounded Earth and the Poor, we walk together to protect the dignity of life in all Creation. We proclaim the Gospel of Joy with our simple life and ‘heroic love that gives life’."

She then explains the mutual relationship between the Common Home and Caritas: "A common home, made of Caritas and the cornerstone of that home is Caritas. The common point of opinion shared when we design our common home is 'When we try to be faithful to Caritas, we naturally conform to the teaching and direction of the current Church, and when we try to follow the teaching and direction of the Church, we naturally become Caritas. I wish I could build a home like that to live in!' So, in the Six-year Guidelines, ‘Caritas’ and ‘Common home’ are emphasized."

Then follow the four-fold 'Common home' commitments of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus Congregation:

Saving our ‘Common Home’ Earth (ecological conversion)

Caritas Mission for our ‘Common Home’(mission for the people in need, youth ministry, mission ad gentes)

Caritas Formation for our ‘Common Home’ (formation - ongoing grow in own Caritas vocation)

Caritas community for our ‘Common Home’ (community living in fellowship and acceptance of multi-cultural diversity)

At the end of this 10-page letter Mother General introduces the Motto for 2022: “Live Caritas creatively and boldly! – For our ‘Common Home’
